-The crop is grown mainly for its grain which may be ground, cooked and consumed by man as bread, cakes, biscuits, macaroni, spaghetti, vermicelli, noodles, semolina, 'Chapatis' and 'Maandazi'.
-Wheat bran, a residual product of white flour milling, is used mainly as livestock feed and may also be used for mulching.
-Germ and pericarp removed during white flour milling are used to make by-products called bans high in protein contents and used as protein supplements in livestock feeds.
-Straw from wheat provide available fodder material and also used to make baskets, roofings, hats and packaging materials.
