Faith
.Altitude: The areas best suited for this crop are situated above 2000 m and even areas around desert grow barley.
.Temperature: Does well in cool climate but can withstand heat in semi-arid and arid conditions. Optimal temperature is 15 -200C.
.Rainfall: More resistant to drought than wheat and can grow in areas receiving 2500mm annually. However excessive dry conditions affects heading and interferes with normal maturation resulting in grains with high nitrogen contents. These grains have low malting quality but are good for livestock feeding.
.Rainfall: Soils good for wheat is also good for barley. Well drained loams and clay loam. 5.Barley is generally grown in less fertile soils than wheat. Among the cereals barley is the most salt tolerant and can grow in soils with pH more than 6. Barley is susceptible to water logging.
