-Cassava is a perennial shrub but in production it is treated as annual crop.
-The economic parts of the crop are tuber roots though leaves can be eaten and stalks used for fuel fire.
-Tubers are swollen lateral roots which develop close to the stem and vary in number between 5-10.
-Tubers are cylindrical in shape but the size and shape are variable depending on soil condition.
-The plant can grow up to 4m tall depending on variety and soil.
-Vegetatively propagated. If established from seeds the variation in root size is very wide.
-Seed germination is also very poor.
