1.Organization and Management of the Approved School Curriculum
-Giving directions to the school to offer a suitable approve and diversified curriculum according to the Ministry guidelines.
-Ensure teachers prepare schemes of work and develop appropriate instructional materials.
-Check periodically pupil’s books, projects and practical work, assignments to ensure regular marking and systematic use in guiding learning.
-Teach lessons on the school timetable.
-Visit, observe and keep a record of learning sessions in classrooms, laboratories, workshops etc..
-Set the pace and direct the drawing up of schedules for operations in the school to ensure rationalized use of time.
-Convene regular staff meetings.

-Ensure the students are prepared, registered and presented for school based assessment and National Examinations.
2.Management and Control of School Finances and Stores
-To account for all Revenue and Expenditure plans, transactions, books of accounts and records.
-Ensure the issue of serialized and official school receipts for money and goods received by the school.
-Authorize all supported payments from school funds
-Ensure and check regularly the keeping of the books of accounts in accordance with the accounting instructions for educational institutions.
-Preparation of financial statements for approval and scrutiny during the school BOG/PTA, Annual General Meetings and Ministry of Education. Such include budget estimates, monthly and quarterly trial balances etc..
-Initiate and nurture income generating projects.
-Adhere to store procurement procedures in acquiring sufficient facilities, equipment, materials and services for use in the school.
-Supervise the School Bursar, Accounts Clerks, Cateress, Matron, Heads of Departments etc.. to ensure proper writing and keeping of books of accountable and legal documents. E.g. Education Act, Constitution of Kenya, other Acts, Accounting instructions etc.. and other school based records,
i. Visitors book

iii. Registered Mail assessment and exam papers
iv. Mark sheet and results
v. Ledgers, inventories
vi. Accounting books etc..
3.Management and Motivation of Human Resource in the School
-Delegate duties and responsibilities to other staff e.g. Deputy HODs etc..
-Welcome and induct new staff and students
-Supervise, appraise and prepare appraisal reports on performance of staff
-Facilitate registration of school candidates
-Ensure and nurture discipline among staff.
-Create an environment for staff training and development
-Involve send outs in school management.
4.Management and Maintenance of the School Plant and Equipment
-Plan and prepare on incremental maintenance manual for all physical facilities, equipment and materials including textbooks in the school.
-Ensure safety, security, cleanliness.
5.Secretary to BOG and PTA
-Send out meeting notification
-Co-ordinate writing of proper minutes for meetings
-Maintain correspondence on all BOG/PTA matters
-Educate BOG/PTA on statutory and operating procedures.
