· Walk in guests
These are the guests who walk into a hotel without prior booking. The receptionist must first check room availability before checking in the guest
· VIPs (Very Important Persons)
They include frequent-stay guests, celebrities, guests in expansive rooms, guests with security risks, executives from hotel’s head office, and so on. · Resident guests
These are guests who stay for a week or a couple of months in a resident hotel. There is often a kitchen or kitchenette where they can prepare a meal or snack. The resident hotels where they stay are hybrids, offering standard hotel services like maid service while functioning more like apartments. The resident guests are often families on long vacations, and business travelers who need to stay in one location for an extended period.
· Non resident guests
These are guests who come to the hotel for other functions other than accommodation e.g. for meals, meetings.
· Advance Reservation guests
These are guests who have made a prepayment or advance deposit for a room reservation. Rooms for guaranteed reservations must be held until the check out time of the day following the day of expected arrival.
· No show guests
These are guests who had made a reservation but do not show up on the expected day.
