i) Home Server – it is a single machine placed in a private residence used to host one or few websites from a broadband connection.
ii) Free Web Hosting service – it is the type of service provided by web hosting companies free of cost with limited services. The hosting companies offer free space on their web server with a condition that some advertisements are allowed on the web pages. Later the business can change the package by paying
iii) Shared Website Hosting - it refers to hosting of multiple websites simultaneously on the same web server. The web host also maintains the server and provides technical support on it.
Shared hosting is perfect for entry-level website hosting. This is where your website will be stored on the same server as multiple other websites. With a shared hosting plan, all domains share the same server resources, such as RAM (Random Access Memory) and CPU (Central Processing Unit). However, because all resources are shared, the cost of shared hosting plans are relatively low, making them an excellent option for website owners in their beginning stages.
In most cases, beginners will find shared the simplest method of hosting their website; so regardless of whether you’re a small business owner, a community group, or a stay-at-home mom with a desire to blog, your site will be accessible on the web.

iv) Virtual Dedicated Hosting – In this type the client or user will have a dedicated web server with separate bandwidth and RAM. The user will be given ID and password to maintain the web server – the user can install or remove any software.
It is also known as Virtual Dedicated Server. It is a server which is partitioned into smaller servers. In this customer is given their own partition, which is installed with its own operating system. Unlike shared hosting, VDS doesn’t share memory or processor time rather it allocates certain amount of memory and CPU to use which means that any problem on a VPS partition on the same drive will not affect other VPS customers.
Virtual private servers share one physical server but act like multiple, separate servers. A VPS is a stepping stone between shared hosting and getting your own dedicated machine. Even though each VPS instance shares hardware resources, they are allocated a dedicated slice of the computing resources.
A VPS avoids the problem of having your hosting neighbors bring down your website, while avoiding the cost of a dedicated server.
Price Range: Most VPS hosting packages cost between $50 and $200. Pricing is based on the guaranteed CPU and memory (RAM) you get.

V) Dedicated Hosting – the service provider makes a web server available to the client and has control over it. The service provider owns server hardware and software but leases it to the client.
Dedicated hosting gives website owners the most control over the server that their website is stored on. That’s because the server is exclusively rented by you and your website is the only one stored on it. This means that you have full root and admin access, so you can control everything from security to operating system that you run.
However, all that control comes with a price.
Dedicated servers cost are one of the most expensive web hosting options. Typically, they are used by website owners with high levels of website traffic, and those who are in need of complete control of their servers. In addition, a high level of technical expertise is required for the installation and ongoing management of the server.

vi)Managed Hosting – in this type ,the client user gets his own web server but is not allowed full control on it.(no install or remove software)
Other than coding assistance, every other aspect of your hosting gets covered by the web host in a managed hosting plan. This means all the tasks, whether routine or emergency, related to the operating and maintenance of the server, control panel, operating system, down to the applications needed, are all managed by the host. Even monitoring and automated backup will be done for you.

vii) Co-location Hosting – in this type the service provider rents a physical space to the client to install his/her server hardware. In other words, co-location allows a client to put his machine in a service provider's premises to avail all the available facilities. The client installs his own software and maintains the server. The service provider is responsible only for providing a reliable power supply, internet connection and other networking hardware.

Viii) Cloud hosting – it is a new type of hosting platform that allows clients a decentralized, powerful, scalable (i.e., can be upgraded or a new server added as necessary) and reliable hosting, based on clustered load-balanced servers and utility billing. A cloud hosted website may be more reliable than other choices since other computers in the cloud can compensate when a single piece of hardware goes down.
When you collocate, you rent rack space from a data center. You bring in your own server hardware and they provide power, cooling, physical security, and an internet uplink. This means you're responsible for your own server software, data storage, backup procedures, etc. If hardware fails, you're responsible for replacing it and getting the server back up and running.
Unless you have the technical know-how in-house, colocation is probably not worth the investment in time, expertise, and money for most small businesses.

ix) Clustered Hosting -Multiple servers hosting the same content for better resources is called Clustered Hosting.
Clustered web hosting is important because it gives businesses higher up-time compared to other web hosting solutions. This is because in standard web hosting solutions. Your website will be hosted on one server which is liable to go through a point of failure. So, clustered web hosting basically spreads this load of hosting across many physical machines to increase the availability of services and lower the chances of any service affection another service.

x)Grid Hosting – it is a form of distributed hosting where a server clusters acts like a grid and is composed of multiple clients.
