Fats/lipids can be classified into two categories:
a) Saturated fats
- Found in animal fats such as suet and lard
- Vegetables fats e.g. margarine which have been artificially hardened by hydrogenation
b) Unsaturated fats
c) Oils
Sources of fat
-Animal sources include:-suet, meat, lard, oily fish, fish liver oil, butter, cream, cheese, egg yolk
-Plant sources: - nuts, and nut oils (groundnut oil, coconut oil), vegetables (avocados, vegetable oils, liver, olive oil), margarine and cooking fats (cooked), whole cereals like oat meal and wheat jam.
