• It assumes that consumers are knowledgeable, intelligent, and rational, and base their product purchases upon a careful consideration of the relationship between their own needs and product attributes
• Assumes that if the customer becomes the focal point of an organization, then this will in the long -run lead to the firm?s goal of high sales and profits i.e. it assumes that with the customer's wants and needs incorporated into the design and manufacture of the product, sales and profit goals are far more likely to be met.
