Eating a balanced diet is vital for good health and wellbeing. Food
provides our bodies with the energy, protein, essential fats, vitamins and minerals to live, grow and function properly. We need a wide variety of different foods to provide the right amounts of nutrients for good health.
1.Dietary fibers
- High fiber diet has been associated with reducing the risk of coronary heart disease
(CHD), stroke and all cause mortality compared to low fiber intake. Increased fiber
intake is beneficial for blood glucose control, and grain fiber sources may be protective
against diabetes. Foods with higher fiber content also tend to have lower glycemic index.
2.Anti-oxidants
- These are substances that may protect your cells against the effects of free radicals —
molecules produced when your body breaks down food or are exposed to tobacco smoke
and radiation. Anti-oxidants may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.
3.Vitamin A
- Vitamin A helps form and maintains healthy skin, teeth, skeletal and soft tissue, mucus
membranes, and skin. It is also known as retinol because it produces the pigments in the
retina of the eye. Vitamin A promotes good vision, especially in low light. It may also be
needed for reproduction and breast-feeding.
4.Vitamin C
- Vitamin C is essential for the synthesis and maintenance of collagen, the most abundant
protein in the human body. Vitamin C helps protect the skin by promoting the production and migration of fibroblasts that support normal wound healing. Vitamin C protects against skin wrinkles seen in premature aging..
