• Individual Branding: Focuses on company and individual brand names i.e. naming each product differently .Facilitates market segmentation and no overlap.
• Overall Family Branding: It is a multi-branding approach where the seller develops two or more brands in the same category. All products are branded with the same name or of part of a name. Promotion of one item also promotes other items.
• Line Family Branding: using the same name under the same product category or within one product line.
• Licensed -brand - a product using a brand name offered by the brand owner to the licensee for an agreed fees. This can be a good source of revenue, free publicity and trademark protection .However, there is the danger of loss of control by the producer and the bombardment of very many unrelated products.
• Co-branding- practice of using the established brand names of two companies on the same product.
• Corporate branding - a form of licensing whereby a firm rents a corporate trademark or logo made famous in one product category and uses it in related category.
• Brand extension- using a successful brand name to launch a new or modified product in a new category. To use brand extensions, the products should be either related or the brand name should have a value over and above the particular product category, i.e. a counter culture image for example. If that is the case, then it might work.
