To achieve effective communication:

a. Always be clear of the need to communicate. Why must I communicate? What information do I want to pass? What do I want to achieve by my communication?
b. Mind how you formulate your message. What are the meaning of words and non-verbal cues? What are the effects of the communication structure? What is the tone of voice and what does it mean? What is the context of communication? How urgent is the communication? Who are/is my audience? Why am I communicating?
c. Choose the medium of communication well. What is the level of privacy? What is the clarity of message through the media? How is it accessible and acceptable to the target? What emotions is it likely to evoke? What are the effects of the environment on the medium? How much of experience and skillful in use of the medium?
d. Be a good listener. What level of attention do I give to others? Need I intervene as the other talk? What am I getting from the communicator? Do I need a clarification? What attitudes and values are being provoked blocking my listening?
e. Be aware of interpretations that you make. What are the effects of past experiences on interpretations I make? What are the effects of environment on the interpretations I make? Was my message understood? What is the intention of the communicator?
f. Always give the right response. Is the response consistent with the actual message? Need I change the course of communication?
