1) Labour is organized on the basis of village/community but the family or
kinship group is the basic unit of production of goods for consumption and of
commodities for exchange.
2) Intra and inter-community exchange or trade is based on the exchange of
goods at family units and community levels.
3) Each family unit’s total income is determined by the size, composition and
productivity of family members and the extent of internal exploitation (of
resources) carried out by family members.
4) The artisan industry is dependent on the needs of the artisan producer and of
the immediate community.
5) The state organizes inter-community trade.
6) The state intervenes directly in the production process and contributes to the
reproduction of the social formation.
