1.Supplies embryo with oxygen and nutrition

2.Removes nitrogen waste from the baby to the mother blood stream.

3.Removes carbon dioxide from the baby to the mother blood stream.

4.Produce hormones ,the placenta produces hormone such as oestrogen and progesterone which regulate the pregnancy and prepares the mother body for child birth.
