Define called up share capital

Answers

Faith
This is the amount the shareholders have been asked to pay where the
amount of capital required is less than the issued share capital. For example, if a firm issues
ordinary shares of Kshs. 1 each and request the shareholders to pay 60cents. Assuming that the
issued shares are 100,000 shares, then the called up share capital will be:
60cents - 100,000 = Kshs. 60,000
