According to George polya the model for problem solving has 4 steps.
I. Read and understand.
Read a statement problem and identify what is required of you and what has been provided to help solve the problem.
II. Plan
i.e. find the relationship between known and unknown using one of the strategies e.g. set up equations, try and error.
III. Execute
Carry out the plan i.e. apply the algorithms logically and accurately.
IV. Verify
Verify to ensure whether the conditions are satisfied e.g. substitute the values of X in a quadratic equation and see whether the answer adds up.
