1. Extinction
It is the process through which the conditioned response is eliminated through repeated presentation of the conditioned stimulus without the presence of the unconditioned stimulus e.g. presenting the bell without the meat will weaken the salivating which gradually fade away.
2.Spontaneous recovery
The process by which the conditioned stimulus will again elicit the conditioned response long after extinction has occurred and without much training.
3.Stimulus generalization
The tendency for the condition response to be elicited by neutral stimuli that is similar, but not identical to the conditioned stimulus e.g. the dog responding not just to the bell but also to other similar stimuli such as a buzzer.
4.Stimulus discrimination
Ability to distinguish between similar conditioned stimuli and to respond only to actual conditioned stimuli e.g. an animal finds itself able to identify its real mother from others who looks like the mother and confine responses to those stimuli.
