Shiundu and Omulando (1992) define teaching as a professional human activity in which one
creatively and imaginatively uses him/herself and his/her knowledge to promote learning and
welfare of others. It is intricate, exacting and challenging activity.
According to Carr (2002), teaching is characterizable as an intentional activity, undertaken with
the purpose of bringing about learning, and that is why we can barely grasp what it is to teach in
advance of some idea of what it is to learn.
