i. Interpersonal Communication
This involves two or more individuals in a face to face situation; telephone and cellular
conversation also fall under this level though not face to-face. There is use of verbal and non-
verbal cues for example, facial expression gestures or tone of voice.

ii. Intra-group Communication
This is communication within a group with defined principles, common values, norms, and
concerns such as a class. An example of this interaction is in a discussion group, an all-class
discussion and team discussion.

iii. Inter-group Communication
This is communication between and among groups such as between a group of student
representative and administration, between and among groups formed to discuss different topics,
or between school teams in a debate.

iv. Mass communication
Mass communication can involve a whole nation communicating with another nation or across
the world or a government communicating to the public. This level of communication is
characterized by use of variety of media and communication technology, such as use of the
television, radio, or World Wide Web (www). Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, intra-group
communication levels from indispensable elements and components of mass communication.
