A garnishee order (summons) is an order from the court obtained by a judgment creditor, ordering a debt owing or accruing due by a third party to the judgment debtor at the time of service of the order be paid to the judgment creditor through the court Where the order is served to the bank in respect of money held in the customer's account then; (i) the bank is the third party (i.e garnishee), (ii) the bank's customer is the judgment debtor and (iii) the party having obtained the order is the judgment creditor.
