Immediately on receipt of an order or summons the bank should proceed as follows.
i) If the order is served at the bank's head office, then the branch where the account
is held should be notified.
ii) If the account concerned is in debit there is nothing to attach and the order will
usually be withdrawn by the judgment creditors? solicitor. No action need then be
taken.
iii) The customer should be advised of the order and his admission should be
obtained in writing.
iv) If the order is for a limited amount, then the amount involved plus charges should
be transferred to a separate account pending payment to the court.
v) If the order attaches all debts owing or accruing due to the customer without limit,
then his/her account must be stopped.
