Gratuitous bailee is one who makes no charge and is therefore bound to take
the same care of the property entrusted to him/her as a reasonably prudent and careful man may fairly be expected to take care of his own property of the like description. This type of bailee is only liable for gross negligence However A bailee for reward is one who makes a specific charge. Consequently, he/she must take the highest degree of care possible and adopt all the precautions and devices that could be reasonably expected from a person in that line of business. Bailee for reward is liable for ordinary negligence.
