The MPS translate the business plan including forecast demand into a production plan using
planed orders in a true multi-level optional component scheduling environment using MPS helps to avoid shortages costly expediting lost minute scheduling and inefficient allocation of resources.
How material production schedule (MPS) works
By using many variables as inputs the MPS will generate outputs used for decision making.
Inputs may include forecast demand, production cost, inventory money, supply, lot size
production lead time and capacity. Out puts may include amount to be produced, staffing levels, quantity available to promise, and projected available balance, output may be used to create a material requirement planning (MRP) Schedule.
A master production schedule may be necessary for organization to synchronize that operation
and become more efficient. An effective MPS ultimate will-:
1. Give production, planning purchasing and management the information to plan and
control manufacturing.
2. The overall business planning and forecasting to detail operations.
3. Enable marketing to make legitimate delivery commitments to warehouses and
customers.
4. Increase the efficiency and accuracy of company’s manufacturing.
