a) Interaction should be purposeful. It should he directed towards attaining a goal that is clearly recognized and accepted by each interacting member.

b) Interaction should be interpersonal. It should involve members being aware of each other's existence.

c) Interaction should be reflective. It should involve a critical appraisal of situations that arise. An individual can develop within himself an awareness of the consequences of belonging to a group. This can affect, influence or alter his attitude towards himself and others.

d) Interaction can be historical. Every individual develops a greater or lesser degree of awareness of a recent or more remote past which, when consciously experienced, affects individual interaction in the present.
