a) Role Bargaining: One has to decide on which role to spend more time and energy.

b) Delegation: Role conflict is sometimes reduced by giving part of one's role to someone else. For example, a working mother can hire a house help, while a head prefect can delegate some of the duties to class prefects.

c) Role Elimination: A role conflict can be resolved by breaking off one relationship or abandoning an inconsistent status. One can give up a job and find another that does not conflict with responsibilities towards family. If one is a deputy principal and is expected to be in school throughout, even weekends, he/she can resign from that position.
