Advantages
a) Official work is done effectively and officers are seen to be working. In this type of structure, most teachers reach school before seven o'clock in the morning and can only leave in the evening after all students have left. The key emphasis is fitting with learners' expectations. Teachers are kept extremely busy throughout the day. One can predict the behavior of the members .
b) Quality work is done. A teacher's retention is based on feedback from students and parents on his/her general performance. Class test outcomes and national examination results are analyzed to deter-mine teacher performance. Since most of these schools pay teachers slightly better than the government, many strive to achieve quality work. There is high productivity because failure to perform could lead to dismissal.
c) Production is high. There i s stiff competition, both internally and externally. This makes enhances the quality of work and gives positive results. In Kenya , this has been reflected in the good performance of schools like Makini and Riara Group of Schools in national examinations.
d) There is respect to the powers that be, true to the adage that "You don't bite the hand that feeds you." In most of these schools, there is a lot of respect for the administrators. This aids the smooth, running of the institutions and improves the achievement of goals.
e) The school works as a machine, with expected results and behaviour.

Disadvantages
a) The atmosphere is repressive and members of staff are motivated by fear of consequences. There is always the fear of losing one's job. There is no job security. Sometimes, this prompts panic attacks which could gravely affect individual health in general and students' academic work in particular.
b) The head teacher is out of touch with reality. Due to the strictness and repressive nature of the system, most teachers avoid close or frequent contact with the administration. Many things may go wrong within the system without the administration being aware.
c) Low staff morale: Fear and uncertainty breed low work morale among teachers.
d) The head becomes a target of hostility and fails to integrate with the staff. He/she can be sabotaged.
