What are the spheres of influences on class-room interaction?

• There is the sphere of influence of the school itself; things like the physical layout of the school and classrooms, provision and failure to provide teaching material, the quality of the school administration and the role of the headmaster.

• There are the influences of the education system on the classroom. The type and level of curriculum, quality of training that teachers have received, the number of examinations students must sit and the amount of educational innovations are examples of the systems of influence on daily life in the classroom.

• There are the social influences represented by attitudes of teachers, students and parents towards the school. Teachers and students enter the classroom with pre- conceptions of how to behave and what to expect. Students, for example, form a mental picture of school life which is shaped by the experiences of educated siblings and relatives. This tradition, along with parental expectations that school children should be well taught and disciplined, influence classroom interaction.
