- Student teams achievement divisions
Teachers assign students into teams of mixed performance (ability), gender, ethnicity and race. The teacher presents the lesson while pupils ensure that all members have mastered it. Quizzes are then administered without pupils assisting each other. Scores are awarded to individual members.

- Teams-games-tournament
In this method, students are assigned to teams consisting of varied individual qualities. Quizzes are scored against other groups and points shared by group members. For example, a cooperative spelling class is one where students are working together in small groups to help each other learn words correctly in order to take the spelling test individually on another, day. Each student's score is increased by bonus points if the group is successful (i.e. the group total meets specified criteria). In a co-operative learning situation, a student needs to be concerned with how he or she spells and how well the other students in his or her group spell. This cooperative umbrella can also be extended to the entire class where bonus points are awarded to each student when the class can spell more words beyond a reasonable but demanding criteria set by the teacher.

- Team assisted individualism
Members work on different units but help each other. The teacher may also provide individualized instruction if team mates fail to help one other. Teams are awarded certificates.

- Cooperate integrated reading tend composition
This method involves pupils working in pairs to read to each other, summarizing stories or passages and vocabulary.

- Learning together
The teacher divides students into groups the groups work on an assignment to produce one piece of world whose score will be shared.

- Group investigation
Pupils set up their own groups and work on a project in a general classroom plan. The topics are studied by the entire class but activities are done in groups. Each group presents its findings to the whole class.

- Jigsaw
This is the division of an assignment into segments which individual members of a team work on. The segments are then put together to produce the whole concept.
In cooperative learning, teachers should ensure that each student is individually accountable to do his or her fair share of group work. Teachers need to assess how much effort each member is contributing to group work, provide feedback to groups and individual students, help groups avoid redundant efforts by members and ensure that every member is responsible for the final outcome.
