What does gender refer to?

Answers

Francis
- The social relationship between male and females and the role assigned to them by society.
- Set meanings, roles and expectations that society ascribes to each sex. The concept is different from the term sex. Sex is biologically determined while gender is culturally determined. Gender can differ from one society to another or from community to community. It is gender, not biology, which determines the majority of the roles males and females play in society. Beliefs about gender determine the distribution of power between sexes.
