a) Organizational Strategies
Schools can formulate and reinforce a positive school culture where female students are given equal opportunities to advance, just like their • colleagues. A carefully designed prefects' system will ensure that no student is ridiculed, bullied or harassed by others. A high quality physical environment will create a favorable, learning environment for all students. Rather than be surprised, schools should celebrate female achievements in subjects like mathematics and sciences. Doing so will challenge and motivate female students. Schools should also encourage support clubs.

b) Individual Strategies
These involve the use of performance data. Teachers can guide and counsel female students based on their performance trend. Female students can be encouraged to aim high in academics and to be convinced that they are as capable as their male counterparts. Relevant examples of success should be given and reinforced Females should be told how a school like Precious Blood- Riruta has led the rest of the country in the KCSE examination for years.

c) Pedagogic Strategies
In applying this strategy, the focus should be on offering equal educational opportunities in areas related to classroom management, teaching and learning. Textbooks that are gender friendly should be identified and used in schools. The revision of textbooks is another activity within this strategy.
School texts should be revised to change the 'female' image. Selected set books should prepare both boys and girls well for the challenges ahead of them. No characters should be portrayed as weak or inferior to others on the basis of their sexuality. Writers should employ neutral language. Girls should be encouraged to pursue science based subjects. They should be introduced to and encouraged to pursue technical education subjects and sciences. These subjects should be demystified.

d) Socio-cultural Strategies.
This involves targeting female students as key leaders and image makers, challenging conventional images of feminism and formal and informal behaviour management schemes. An important activity within this strategy involves the modification of attitudes. Schools can be used to bring about change of attitude on sex roles among learners. This can. be achieved through teacher discussions with learners on issues such as sex roles and stereotyping. Customs that hinder the advancement of females can be analyzed and alternatives suggested. The public should be sensitized on the importance of educating the girl child. This sensitization could be done through chiefs' barazas, churches and the mass media. Rather than suffer expulsion, girls who fall pregnant should be allowed back to school after delivery. More schools with girls., especially boarding schools, should be established especially where cultural practices such as early marriages and female genital mutilation are rampant. Schools should adopt a whole-school approach to gender issues, putting into place a range of departmental strategies and management techniques.
