a) All human societies and their social structures are subject to change. They constantly change in order to adapt to new/changed circumstances or conditions.
b) People's culture, social institutions, ideas, attitudes, values, technolo- gies, knowledge and communications, change significantly after or on contact with other cultures.
c) The most obvious and noticeable change over time is that of the 'organic' population, i.e. the youth change to become adults.
d) Social change in simpler societies is often rare and slow, unless disasters and contact with other cultures occur. However, social change in complex societies is usually rapid and drastic. Such rapid change is a major problem because many individuals cannot keep up. This change is known to induce many diseases, including stress, as those affected fight to keep up with rapid changes to their lives.
e) Social change is a process. It is a process that occurs continuously in many different ways. It is also observed and perceived as a form of progress in which an activity/action attains a pre determined goal or destination.
