The school can bring about societal change in the following ways: ;
a) Insisting on the preservation and transmission of what is valuable in society. Teachers have frequent contact with students in schools. They are able to change students' perspectives over various issues.
b) Transforming learners' behaviour and thus assisting them to be useful members in the community.
c) Helping learners to select courses that can make them competitive in the job market.

Within schools, teachers can bring about positive changes among learners by doing the following:
- Enhancing personal values, attitudes and mental capacity of students;.
- Developing in individuals positive attitudes towards others;
- Developing abilities and attitudes of tolerance and objectivity of thought; Developing individuals who have initiative, creativity and capabilities of self reliance, self expression and self determination.

Therefore, education as an agent of social change facilitates values, perception and aspiration for change. It also equips learners with skills and knowledge.
Education reflects the needs of society. Its primary role is to conserve and transmit traditional values, beliefs and norms to the new generation. The school is expected to teach the dominant value system of the society of which it is part.
