a) Physical Symptoms:
There are various physical signs which may indicate that a student is abusing drugs. Some of these include fatigue, repeated health complaints, watery, red and glazed eyes, persistent cough, dizziness, clammy skin, seizures, runny nose and injection marks on the arms. The student may also have white powder around the nostrils.

b) Emotional Symptoms:
A student on drugs may display emotional symptoms such as acute irritability over minor issues in class. The student may be aggressive to the extent of picking a fight with colleagues. Another symptom is mood swings between happiness and excitement to sadness, indifference and moodiness. The student may also be unnecessarily critical and may start uncalled for arguments aimed at diverting attention from him/herself to others.



c) Social Symptoms:
Social signs that sometimes indicate a student on drugs include the type of friends he/she associates with and their conduct. Most of these friends have little interest in school activities. The student also reacts negatively to any inquiry about his/her friends. The student may get into trouble with the law, for example being apprehended for drunk driving or being outdoors at odd hours without good reason. They may also adopt less conventional styles of dress and music. The student may have a history of frequent absenteeism and falling asleep in class. During discussions, they may display memory loss or lack of interest. Poor concentration in class and daydreaming may be observed. Overall, decreased interest in learning, poorer grades, absenteeism and discipline problems are indications of a possible drug related problem.

d) Economic Symptoms:
There are varies economic traits that may point to a student abusing drugs. He/she claims to be perpetually broke and is always borrowing money, from school males, family members and even-teachers. However, he/she. cannot account for these monies or is unable to repay it Also, the student is obsessed with planning how to-get more money. This is-"reflected in essays and discussions.
