1. Stricture Types:
Sounds that have open approximation have the highest sonority (loudness), followed by
close approximation and the lowest sonority is in complete closure. The less you block a sound,
the louder you hear it.

2. Voicing:
Voiced sounds are more sonorous than their voiceless counterparts. All vowels are
voiced.
