1. Community capacity building often refers to strengthening the skills and competencies of people and communities in small businesses and local grassroots movements in order to achieve their goals and overcome particular issues that may cause exclusion.

2. Community capacity building is about promoting the ‘capacity’ of local communities to develop, implement and sustain their own solutions to problems in a way that helps them shape and exercise control over their physical, social, economic and cultural environments.

3. Community capacity building is defined as the "process of developing and strengthening the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that organizations and communities need to survive, adapt, and thrive in the fast-changing world.
