- Warren Bannis (1969), defines organizational development as response to change and a complex education strategy intended to change beliefs, attitudes, values and structures of an organization so that they can better adapt to technology, market and challenges.

- Richard Beckhard (1969), defines organizational development as an effort that is planned organization wide and managed from the top to increase organizational effectiveness through intervention in the organization process using behavioral science knowledge.

- Thus: organizational development is any process or activity based on behavioural science aimed at improving or developing knowledge, productivity, expertise, income, interpersonal relationship satisfaction for personal, group or organization gain. It can be done through facilitating, consulting, coaching, training and designing.
