• Local scale climate engineering: - Frost is also of concern to the transportation industry. Railroad switches (railway points) in areas prone to frost and icing are frequently electrically heated, while some sensitive intensely used roadways have electrical heaters built into their roadbed. This is most commonly found on bridges, which lack the thermal inertia of the land based road and is thus more sensitive to
