A bouncing castle consists of a conical top and a cylindrical base. The diameter of the base is 5 m and the height of the cylindrical part is 4 m. If the total height is of the two parts is 9 m, calculate :
a. Its total surface area.
b. Its total volume.

Answers

joseph
Surface area of the cone
A = prl r= radius, l =slant height
L^2 = 52 + 2.52
L^2 = 31.25
L =v31.25
L= 5.5902 m
Area = 22/7 x 2.5 x 31.25
=613.84 m^2
Area of the cylinder
=pr^2h
=22/7 x 2.5 x 2.5 x 4
=78.57 m^2
Total surface area = 613.84 + 78.57
=692. 41 m^2
Total volume = volume of cone + volume of the cylinder
= 1/3 pr^2 + pr^2h
=[1/3 x22/7 x2.5 x2.5 x 5] +[22/7 x 2.5 x 2.5 x4 ]
=111.31 m^3
