- Settlement and grassing in the savannah grasslands. Crop agriculture and pastoral ism, little natural vegetation exists. Compared to forests few natural grassland reserves exist in the world.
- On less productive grasslands we have replaces natural plant species, have modified using fertilizers, pest control and irrigation.
- Overgrazing has resulted in new dominant plants not liked by the domestic animals.
- On overgrazed grasslands mulch deteriorates and disappears because only a small amount of litter is added to the ground. Water flows over the surface taking the topsoil with it. Lacking moisture and nutrients, the original species can not maintain themselves and vegetation continues to decrease resulting in erosion pavement.
