Counselors are employed by schools to help people become ‘’more able’’. School counselors assist pupils in becoming ‘’able’’ learners, then support parents in their supervising and parenting roles, and help the teachers to provide effective instruction and create healthy classroom climates for all students.
The role and purpose of school counselors is a mission to provide services that ensure an opportunity for all students to learn and develop to their fullest potential. The purpose of school counseling programs is to provide an array of services that facilitate the development of all students. School counselors design programs and services that address the development of students in three essential areas: educational, career development and personal and social development. We can look at these by focusing on the various components of Guidance and Counseling services.
