Heat the metal in air to form Copper (II) oxide. Add dilute hydrochloric acid (HCL) to the oxide to get Copper (II) chloride solution and filter. Concentrate the filtrate and leave to crystallize. Dry the crystals at room temperature between pieces of filter paper.
