Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) carries out many duties as far as education in Kenya is concerned.Below are its functions.Development of both school and post-school examinationsRegistration of candidates for examinationsAdministration and processing of the examinationsCertification - Awards various certificate and diplomas to students of different levelsResearching on examinations and curriculumEquation of certificates from other examination boardsAssists students in replacement of lost and misplaced academic certificateIt is mandated with the task of confirming that certificates are genuine or authentic. The confirmation can be requested from time to time by government, colleges and universities as well as employersConducts various examinations at school level as well as in other institutions of higher learning e.g. colleges and polytechnics. It also facilitates marking of the examinations and processing of resultsIt works on ensuring the qualifications it confers are recognized globally. Conducts examinations locally on behalf of other foreign examination bodiesFacilitates registration of KNEC exams to students in primary schools, secondary schools as well as tertiary institutionsProvides guidelines on what is expected of the students pursuing examinations and ensures that the guidelines are adhered to
