There has been a misconception about university education especially in Kenya.The general picture of a university student is a person with so much free time and one who ought to enjoy life and not worry about grades.The truth is,grades matter here as much as in other levels of study.Otherwise,why are there grading systems?Let us take a quick review at how grading is done in universities;

A=70-100%
B=60-69%
C=50-59%
D=40-49%
E=39% and below

Now that we know the basic grading,I am sure that no one wants to be at the least grade right?I will outline 7 basic things one should do to get the best grade possibly an A.These are not the ultimate guidelines but they the most important.

1. Attend your lectures.

I know this can seem extreme but it helps a lot.Our mind is quick to relate to things we hear in class and also,the lecture might give an example that you will never forget.Do this and you will surely move an inch higher.

2. Review notes regularly.

Most students in campus wait until a CAT is announced or the exam is around the corner.This causes the brain to store a lot of information in the short-term memory and is forgotten easily.This basically why if you ask a student a question from the last semester,he/she wont remember.Study to understand so as to apply in the future.

3. Do your assignments and group work well.

These two contribute to a percentage of your final grade usually 30%. Do these and you will never have to resit for test.

4. Engage in outside class activity

This does not have to be a sport or any club. You can create your own.For example dancing,you can always dance in your house or go to the club and shake your body.Walking is also another great idea. This has a relaxing effect to the brain.

5. Discipline

Have ever noticed that

some people fail because they had an unfriendly encounter with a teaching staff?Watch your manners.

6. Sleep and eat well

It adds energy to the mind and body and also allows space for the brain to internalize things.

7. Manage your time and social life

Set priorities and time for everything.

Do this,and you will thank me later.
