A goat is a well known domestic animal reared almost all parts of this world. It is a hardy herbivorous animal (ruminant) and has horns that curve backwards and most of the goats, both male and female have beards. A goat can be reared in various climatic conditions that is why it is found in almost all parts of the world. Goats can survive in extreme climate zones and have various advantages ranging from providing nutritious food, transport, clothing etc. This makes goats have an added advantage over other domesticated animals.

Many people know goats may be mainly for milk but don't know the nutritious content behind this goats milk. First of all, a goats milk has more fatty acids compared to a cow's. It is also easier to digest goats milk than a cows milk. Goats milk is also non-mucus hence it is the best alternative for those allergic to cows milk. It also contains phosphate which is of nutritional importance to the vegetarian communities.

Apart from being non-mucus, goats milk has more finer fat and protein particles that make its digestion easier. Goats milk has more calcium and is similar to mothers milk. This milk also neutralizes acids and toxins in our bodies. It is the best source of natural fats, proteins and calcium for our bodies instead of chemically produced foods.

Also goats hairs are used to manufacture rugs and ropes. This is an indication that goats are of more importance to human beings than other animals.

Finally, goats have very few demands of housing and management. They hardly need separate housing and happily share their homes with their owners or his other livestock. Goats can also be raised by landless agricultural laborers, ladies and children because they can thrive well on variety of leaves, shrubs, bushes, kitchen waste etc. Goats suffer from fewer ailments than other large animals. Goats manure is rich in nitrogen and phosphoric acid than other animals manure. This is an ensures that goats give more production per unit of investment.

However, most people rarely know of all these benefits of a goat. In fact, more advantages like transporting light goods have not been highlighted. A goat is a simple domestic animal that requires less than what it produces than other domestic animals hence easy to keep but big returns await. Since a goat does not require special maintenance, any person can keep and manage.
