The fact that I have to write hundreds of pages before I get to page one is both scintillating and laborious. I have no otherwise but to establish a unique presence to define myself from the rest of the pack. Maybe you, my dear reader, as an up-coming writer like I share similar struggles. Welcome on board to believe with me and to create a fruitful habit of this craft.

Nothing so great ever comes easy. First, ignite the fire inside of you. The desire if left unattended regularly tends to wane and eventually extinguishes for good. I concur with Norman Cousins, “The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live.”

Secondly, don’t wait for ideal conditions or else you won’t put a word on paper. It is like thinking that salvation after marriage won’t be difficult. If otherwise create the necessary conditions or fantasize that you have what you need. This is near truth because you have ideas, a pen and a paper. It is even better when you have the writing skills.

Thirdly, start a personal daily routine and be its master. The best time for me is during the morning hours when the brain is active, there is less disturbance and before the day gets busy. It is suitable time to do free writing; knitting words and sentences without being mindful of any errors in order to generate ideas for your subject matter.

Keep to the routine without making variations. A repeat of writing every morning at the same time increases your thinking and improves the writing culture. It aids your memory to flex and grasp new vocabularies and ensure their appropriate usage in the course of writing. It only gets easier to play with words.

Enjoy writing badly. Consequently, you will learn

your own style of writing and make necessary adjustments. A try after a try gives you an upper-hand to get an angle and relevancy. In the end you will find yourself writing almost effortlessly.

Compel yourself to generate many ideas. Force yourself as earnestly as you can to come up with dozens of ideas or viewpoints surrounding a subject of choice. Open-mindedness dispels any unwanted limitation.
You have to write whether you like it or not. There is no shortcut. To be a writer you be just that, a writer. There are times we feel so acutely devoid of ideas but even then keep writing. You will surprise yourself with what you can put down on paper.

However, don’t be a draught-horse. Work with pleasure only. Write about what you are interested in. Take time off and play before you revisit your work. New ideas always bombard our heads when we least expect. Besides, we have oceans of information which is why we need to dip into them and get out information to our readers.
