As students go back to school and some Join University, accommodation has become one of the concerns that parents have. To find Accommodation that is within the proximity of the university or college your son/daughter is joining can be hard. Accommodation that offers security, comfort, convenience, Student community, and comes at affordable prices is almost impossible.

Student accommodation is even a bigger problem for International Students. The pressure of moving to a new country is already overwhelming but the pressure of organizing one’s stay in a foreign country is even more tasking. Finding Accommodation that meets one’s interaction needs and budget can be quite hard.

Students face Challenges trying to find accommodation on their own. There is the question of value for money. Most landlords have an issue with young single people renting their apartments. Students are unfortunately associated with parties and noise. The issue of furnishing the room also becomes evident. Furnishing the room means more cost and inconvenience.

Universities offer accommodation, but often comes up the question is there enough privacy? Is comfort catered for? Does it feel like home? Is hygiene maximized? And with the ongoing pandemic are measures being taken to prevent spreading? Is there a student community? Is security available?

I looked at what accommodation is available in Kenya that caters to student needs and I came across Qwetu Student Residences. The residence is located 20 minutes’ drive from University of Nairobi main campus, 10 minutes’ drive to Strathmore University and 25 minutes to Nairobi CBD (Central Business District). Is the new addition to the Qwetu Community. The opening of this residence will commence in January 2021. Qwetu Aberdare Heights will be home to an extensive student community located only 50 meters from the heart of the United States International University (USIU) campus and Pan African University.
