Discussion groups are groups formed by students to discuss certain topics that are not easy to understand or require extensive research. You will agree with me that two heads are better than one,and when two or more brains are put together to solve a problem, the outcome is amazing.

In this article i'll highlight some of the benefits of group discussions:

1. Students are able to learn from others, and at the same time share their difficulties with their friends.

2. When you teach others you learn more, therefore by sharing knowledge with others the students become more knowledgeable about the topic.

3. Speaking in front of other students make them gain confidence and develop their personality. This makes students develop public speaking skills which not only help them in class work but also in many aspects of their lives.

4. The students are able to ask as many questions as they may have without fear of their friends. Since the students are free with each other, they are able to interact very well in question answer sessions.

6. The social aspects. Students can socialize well and make new friends hence improving on the social lives.

Having said that, it is important to note that a good discussion group should have between 3 to 6 people, and all should participate. Everybody should be committed to the group, and it is advisable to have a group leader and also set up some simple rules to govern the group.
