If university degree is a harambee, then each of the participants has to make his contribution. I know all university students are good students, but it is often said that even a first class honors degree would be useless if you cannot reproduce it in the interview room, here are a few tips to moving from good to a great university student:

1. Attend classes; most lecturers don’t even go through the notes they give in class, they have a unique way of presenting their work, talking and some even give clues on how they would prefer to have the questions answered. as much as you have been passing by cramming the notes, be sure that this is an accident waiting to happen as the courses tend to become more of application as you advance.

2. Do your own assignments; the assignments are usually shorter and the students fewer, the lecturers have the whole semester to go through them, compare with those that he thinks have been copied and even observe the suspects in class. Don’t copy the assignments; it might just ruin your semester before it even begins.

3. Revise well for the Cats; as much as the marks look little, doing well in the CATs makes sure that you are you are working towards passing your exams rather than avoiding to fail, this in return reduces the pressure on your head during revision.

4. Attend those corporate visits and talks, workshops and any other relevant training that is offered in the institution. This will go a long way in increasing your certificates, general knowledge, and getting you networking contacts that might just be useful in the job market.

5. Take up any leadership roles; no matter how small or seemingly irrelevant, always strive to be a leader in one way or the other, this will

give you experience of working with different people as well as an edge in the job market.

6. Take part in the extra-curricular activities; being active in these activities gives you public relations skills and makes you a team player, nurtures your talent, keeps you fit as a fiddle, and also ensures you share in the activity fee that you pay.

7. Enjoy yourself; you didn't do it in primary school, you couldn't do it in secondary school and you probably will be too busy after college, so why not enjoy yourself?
