LORD NOTTINGHAM:
-He is alsn known as the father of modern equity.He succeeded Lord Shaftesbury,the last non lawyer to be a chancellor.
-He tried to fuse together,consolidate and stiffen the system.
-He started the process of moulding a settled system of law.
-He set down the principles on which equity operated.
-He was particularly instrumental in developing the law of trusts.
-His style moved away from the era of unpredictable decisions.
-He was chancellor from 1673 to 1682.

LORD HARDWICKE
-He further developed the principles of equity.
-Many of his decisions reflected the fine balance to be held between certainty and flexibility to allow for both justice and evolution of the law in a particular case.
-He was chancellor from 1736 to 1756

LORD ELDON
-He was the last great chancellor in the development of a modern system of law.
-He stressed that decisions be based on precedent.
-He consolidated the principles previously developed.
-He worked on application of rules and principles of equity that he inherited frow Lord Hardwicke and Lord Nottingham.
-His decisions were known to be thorough,painstaking and clear.
-He had masterly judgements.
-He reigned as chancellor from 1801 to 1806 as well as from 1807 to 1827.
