A research is a diligent enquiry that aims at solving a problem. Such may use systematic, objective, controlled and empirical techniques. A research cannot be carried out without observing some rules and regulations.

Ethics in research are a set of guidelines which define the researcher's behavior and conduct before, during and after conducting a study. These essential ethical considerations relate to the research subjects and the research process. They include avoiding of such mischief as plagiarism and fraud. Plagiarism is using another person's work as one's own. This is a punishable offence as it means the victim never gave genuine information. It puts into doubt the kind of research one did. He is instead supposed to carry out the research but not obtaining others' results on internet, their theses, research reports or journals.

On the other hand, fraudulence is faking of data or research findings. One avoids carrying out the research and instead forges the findings. He fills questionnaires himself and make guesses of observation. This is a kind of laziness that really lowers the quality of the research. It must really be avoided.

Researchers should not misuse their privileges as provided in their profession. They must withhold the integrity expected from them. Keeping in mind that the information they give is to benefit the public, they must give the best information ever. When carrying out the research, they must respect the respondents' confidentiality and privacy. If they seek some information from a respondent, his identity must be kept secret to avoid any victimization likely to occur. This must be promised to that respondent before being subjected to the interview or questionnaire. This researcher should also make the participation into the research voluntary. An informed consent must be sort from should be sort from that respondent. No force should be

put to somebody to participate. For vulnerable and special populations participating in the study, permission should be sought. This involve groups like children, prisoners and/or those hospitalized where permission must be granted by the parents, teachers or authority in charge of them.

It is very advisable that a researcher conducts a research that will not cause physical or psychological harm to the respondent. Such researches like experimenting on human bodies that may inflict pain, injury or turmoil in mind should be avoided totally. We have also seen for many times researches being manipulated by sponsors or other quarters to distort research findings. A research undergoing this lack originality and is merely meant to cheat the public. This is so unethical for a researcher who goes into this for money or favor and it must be avoided.

After a research is done, it should not be concealed but rather disseminated after completion of the study. It should benefit the public or corporate world as soon as possible. Hiding it risks failing to accomplish the objectives of the research. There should be academic freedom to publish research findings by the researcher. No researcher should be barred from making a publication of what he researched on. Doing so is like avoiding the information from reaching the intended party. Freedom should be given to the researcher that he does not avoid pertinent issues in research due to fear of repercussions or conflict of interests.
