Just like Universities, Technical Training Institutes have student councils whereby members of the council are elected by students during the students' elections. The council is supposed to present the students' affairs at the administration level and defend the students' in case they is a hostile conflict with the administration, in other words, the council is the bridge between the students affairs and how the administration respond to them.Although these councils are internal, they are faced by a number of challenges, here are some of them:1. Representation at National level:The councils barely conduct National forums where matters affecting the institutions could be tabled and forwarded to the ministry. These forums could improve the conditions of the Technical Institutes as many of them are being siphoned by social evils like corruption.2. Limited Power:Although they are meant to represent the students at the administration level, their power is very limited to a point where delivering justice to the students is not possible. Most of the time they are under the control of the administration and when they attempt to exercise power the members are threatened by suspension. 3. Salary:The salary paid to the members is very low in contrast to the task performed and time dedicated. This lowers the morale of the council and performance of duties is not done to the maximum.
